About Us

Bluff City Toffee was founded in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2016 by Stephanie Upshaw. The lifelong baker used beloved family recipes to make toffee, cookies and popcorn from scratch that quickly amassed a loyal following. In 2022, Upshaw passed her spatula to Madonna Learning Center, a school and training facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Bluff City Toffee now empowers adults with special needs through vocational opportunities and real-life job experiences so they may excel in today’s world. These individuals are referred to as trainees, and they work hard weighing ingredients, bagging finished products and gift wrapping packages. Every purchase helps them accomplish goals that were once dreams, making Bluff City Toffee so much more than a sweet shop.
